Where have you been?

Updated: Mar 16, 2020

For those of you who don’t know, I’m based in South Africa for most of the year and do the challenges from there. Or, more to the point, from here…

Where I’ve been

Of course this isn’t really where I’ve been since 1 February.

On the 1st, I was in the park, taking a walk and eavesdropping on two people on their second date. For some reason they only ever said two words at a time and the conversation didn’t last long, but it was enough to make me glad I was there.

On the 2nd, I was in the Big Brother house, waiting to hear who Europa would choose as her fellow winner. Would it be the old letch Pantalone, the dim-but-friendly Zanni, that notorious liar and ladies-man Capitano or the smooth and sophisticated Magnifico?

Day 3 was a bit scary. I found myself in a hospital morgue with Jim, who had just died and thought his day couldn't get any worse. It could. He suffers from a phobia of (don’t say it!) h.e.a.v.e.n.

I found myself at a hen weekend for day 4 with some lovely, albeit unhinged, ladies called Andy, Babs, Claire, Dottie, Erica and Fiona.

On the 5th… well, let’s just say I wouldn’t want to meet this person in a dark alley. Or a brightly lit room for that matter!

How could I resist?

With so many places to go and people to see it was starting to make my head spin. I felt like begging for just one day off. A day to sit and watch mindless TV and not have to write anything at all. But then think of what I’d be missing… how could I resist?

Day 6 rewarded me with a hospital visit from my idol. Or should I say my Idol. Or was he?

Day 7 brought me to The Proms, where I really listened to some classical music for probably the first time in my life. The music took me on a journey to the world of loving, dancing, fighting musical instruments and back to my Fantasia-filled childhood.

Not sure yet where

And as I write this, I’m about to set off on my eighth journey this month. Not sure where it will take me, possibly a very dramatic and emotional encounter in a playgroup? Or a supermarket? Or a spaceship? I’ll have to wait and see.

How about you? Where have you been this week?
