WRITERS IN RESIDENCE
We are teaming up with Isla de Crear, a new and unique art centre in the south of Spain, to offer residencies for writers.
Isla de Crear is an art centre, combining a range of different disciplines, to explore creating and crafting in a new method, away from commercial constraints or industry guidelines, based on the principles of the Fantasism manifesto.

The centre is located in Úbeda, in the Jaén region of Andalusia, the sunny south of Spain, where the sun is out 300 days of the year, in the middle of the Sea of Olives with no neighbours for miles, but it is by a main road (so it can get quite noisy sometimes), Úbeda is a UNESCO world heritage site and home to a buzzing community of artisan craftspeople and a lot of cultural events.
We want to be able to accept creatives regardless of their financial situation, but as a not-for-profit co-operative, we are limited with how much we can help. If you would like to come but can’t afford the participation fee, we are open to the possibility of you donating skills that can be useful to the centre. Writer-in-Residence
Come for 1-12 weeks and work at your own pace.

This residency is hands-off. We give you the space to do what you need to do,
and leave you to it. You will set your goal at the start of your residency, and we will champion you to achieve it by the end.
What you get:

We offer all writers a private en-suite bedroom (with a shower), with a shared living space, which includes: a kitchen, a large living room, laundry facilities (to be used in agreement with the team), a library and many indoor and outdoor working spaces.

Pick-up/drop-off from Linares train station or Úbeda bus stop (airport pick up is possible for an extra fee).

Trips into town, for shopping needs

A meeting with the artistic director on the first day to set your goals, and a meeting on the last day to summarise your experience, as well as weekly meet-ups for longer stays to discuss the progress, help you define your target and overcome any writing hurdles.
Participants need to take care of their travel, food and insurance.

€225 per week + VAT (€247.50)
Discounts apply for residencies - 4 weeks or longer.
